Workers oppose mass sacking by Maruti

Workers from different factories in the Gurgaon-Manesar industrial belt, along with trade unions cutting across political affiliations, on Friday opposed the sacking of 500 workers at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.’s Manesar plant. They took out a protest rally and demanded the immediate reinstatement of the sacked workers.

Representatives of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), the Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), the Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), the All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC), the All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) and the Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union (MUKU) participated in the rally .

It was also attended by workers from Maruti Suzuki’s Gurgaon plant, Hero MotoCorp, Rico Auto, Sunbeam Auto, Satyam Auto, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd, Lumax Auto, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Xerox India and Sona Koyo Steering Systems.

The protesters also demanded a CBI inquiry into the violence at Manesar plant and said innocent workers should not be harassed.
