Woman Naxal killed in Gadchiroli encounter

The Gadchiroli police killed a woman Naxalite in an encounter in the Ambapur forest on Sunday morning.

The police said 15-20 Naxals fired at a team from the Ghot station, which was carrying out search operations, and it returned the fire, killing Riki alias Rakhi alias Lakhsmi Likami (25).

The police have intensified anti-Naxal operations in the area. They recovered one rifle and Naxal literature from the spot.

The police said Riki was a member of the Kasansur Local Operating Squad of Naxals and was active in Potegaon Dalam .

According to some sources, Rakesh alias Ganesh Sanaku, commander of the Dalam, who was part of the Naxal group which attacked the police, escaped along with his associates under cover of thick forest.
