With an eye on Amritsar, Aam Aadmi Party fields ophthalmologist

The Aam Aadmi Party has fielded an eye surgeon Daljit Singh against the BJP’s Arun Jaitley and the Congress’ Amrinder Singh in Amritsar.

Dr. Singh owns an eye hospital. He is on the 11 list of AAP candidates for 11 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, Maharashtra, Punjab and Rajasthan released on Tuesday.

Bhai Baldev Singh, a ragi (religious singer in gurdwaras) who runs an NGO against drug addiction, is the candidate from Khadoor Sahib in Punjab, which has Ratan Singh of the Shiromani Akali Dal as the sitting MP.

Vigyan Modi, a former Rajasthan Minister who participated in Jayaprakash Narayan’s movement, will contest against sitting Congress MP and Union Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch in Jodhpur.

The AAP has put up a party worker, Valvi Virendra, in Nandurbar in Maharashtra against the sitting MP Manikrao Gavit. In Ajmer, Ajay Somani will face Sachin Pilot of the Congress and in Jhalawar-Baran, N.S. Dangawas will be the party’s candidate against sitting MP and Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s son Dushyant Singh.
