Union Minister for Commerce, Industry and Textiles Anand Sharma said here on Friday that the Trinamool Congress and the Indian National Congress were partners and he must convey the concerns expressed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the fuel price hike issue to the UPA leadership.

Talking to reporters after his meeting with Ms. Banerjee, Mr. Sharma said: “The Chief Minister has apprised me of her views and has shared her concern over frequent petrol price hikes. So I must convey this to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. We are together as partners [in the government].”

“We, however, have to think of the greater interest for the country,” he observed.
