‘Why silent on scams in Congress-ruled States ?’

The BJP on Thursday hit back at Congress president Sonia Gandhi for not talking about scams and crime in her party-ruled States, like Delhi and Haryana, while raising the issue of corruption.

“All of us have been waiting to hear her speak on several issues. Rapes happening unendingly and no conviction happening in Haryana, where she even went to visit and console a family. But after that too her State government has failed to curtail violence against women. We would like to hear her mind on it,” BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.

She said, while Ms. Gandhi talked about corruption all the time, no action was initiated against those involved in corruption-related offences, be it Suresh Kalmadi, the Delhi Chief Minister or the Cabinet Ministers.

“We have not heard anything on Coalgate from her. Have we heard anything on the DLF-Vadra nexus? ,” she asked.

BJP leader Balbir Punj also questioned Sonia’s silence on corruption in the government and charged the UPA-II of being “guilty of destroying the morale of the young people as also the confidence they had in this country.” — PTI
