After Lady Sri Ram College student Gurmehar Kaur spoke out against the violence by members of the Akhil Bhartiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP) at Ramjas College, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted, asking, “Who’s polluting this young girl’s mind?”
Ms. Kaur’s father was killed in action during the Kargil war.
Former cricketer Virender Sehwag responded to a tweet by Ms. Kaur, where she said Pakistan did not kill her father, but the war did.
Mr. Sehwag replied, “I didn’t score two triple centuries. My bat did.”
Actor Randeep Hooda chimed in, applauding Mr. Sehwag. "What's sad is that the poor girl is being used as political pawn and it seems you are a party to it ..(sic)", he tweeted on Sunday evening.
Mr. Rijiju then commented: “A strong Arm Force prevents a war. India never attacked anyone but a weak India was always invaded.”
Another Minister, Vijay Goel, also tweeted in support of Mr. Hooda and Mr. Sehwag. “Virender Sehwag and Randeep Hooda are youth icons and we are proud of these two gems of India.”
