It was a day when President Pranab Mukherjee became a “teacher” for two new parliamentarians — actor Rekha and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
When the two “students,” who recently took oath as Rajya Sabha members, called on the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday, they were given a brief lesson in parliamentary procedures
In the 20-minute meeting, the President also pointed to some of the salient features of the Constitution and Independence.
For Ms. Rekha, the meeting with the President, himself a veteran parliamentarian, was a “blessing.” Mr. Tendulkar found the interaction “enjoyable and educative.” The duo was accompanied by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajeev Shukla.
At an ‘At Home’ on Thursday, 70th anniversary of Quit India Movement, the President will honour freedom fighters. Since 2003, the President has been hosting ‘At Home.’
