The West Bengal government has sought the cooperation of Chief Executive, Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), Bimal Gurung to take forward the development process in the Darjeeling hills.
A letter dated February 27 by Chief Secretary Sanjay Mitra was delivered at the office of Mr. Gurung, who is also the president of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM), on Tuesday, GJM general secretary Roshan Giri said.
“It is indeed surprising,” he told The Hindu over telephone from Darjeeling, when it was pointed out that the letter reached Mr. Gurung’s office after three weeks.
“We understand that it reached the office of the District Magistrate on March 6. It was delivered by hand at the GTA headquarters only today [Tuesday],” he added.
