Back from a recent visit to Tokyo, Surya Kumar Bose, grand-nephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, told journalists here on Friday that a group of eight to 10 people in Japan comprising young people, researchers and two of Netaji’s contemporaries would launch a website on Netaji in a couple of months.
Rejecting the theory that Netaji died in a plane crash in 1945, the group demanded the declassification of all official documents as well as of governments of various other countries,
All the available documents and photographs of Netaji would be put in the public domain initially in Japanese to arouse the interest of Japan in Netaji and thereby get the attention of the Japanese government about the declassification of files pertaining to Netaji, stated Mr. Bose. “This will create indirect pressure on the Government of India,” he added.
The website would also serve as an instrument of “spreading the ideology of Netaji among the younger generation,” Mr. Bose said.
Chandra Kumar Bose, Mr. Bose’s younger brother, said a Delhi-based organisation called “Mission Netaji” has filed an RTI application seeking the declassification of files. However, the Prime Minister’s Office has refused to declassify the files on the ground that “if the contents of these files are in the public domain then the relation with our friendly countries will get affected” said Chandra Kumar Bose.
