December 06, 2010 11:52 pm | Updated 11:52 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The final report of the Wage Boards, set by the Labour and Employment Ministry, one for the working journalists and the other for other employees of the newspapers and news agencies, would be submitted to the Centre before December 31 and there is no question of seeking any further extension, said Justice Gurbax Rai Majithia, Chairman of the Board.

Talking to The Hindu here on Monday he said the “huge and voluminous” draft of the final reports were being sent to the members, representing journalists, management and other employees, for their “comments and suggestions.” The members would be given 13 days to revert back to him and thereafter a meeting of the Boards held to finalise the reports.

Everything would be finalised by December 25 and thereafter the reports given to the ministry concerned, Justice Majithia said.

Labour and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge said the Board had not sought any request for extension and he hoped that the reports would be submitted by December 31 when the term of the Boards expires.
