Chairman of the National Wage Board for Working Journalists and Other Newspaper Employees, Justice (retd.) G.R. Majithia on Saturday said he would submit his report to the government as early as possible.
“Though it is not possible to specify any time frame, I am getting strong support from the States. I will be very objective and submit my report as early as possible,” Justice Majithia told PTI.
The Wage Board members led by Justice Majithia arrived here for a two-day meeting with journalist bodies and owners of newspapers on the issue of revision and fixation of wages of journalists and non-journalists working in newspapers and news agencies.
Journalist bodies and newspaper owners from Madhya Pradesh made their submission before the Wage Board on Saturday while on Sunday, representatives from Chhattisgarh will meet the board members.
Besides Justice Majithia, the meeting was also attended by the Wage Board members K. Vikram Rao, Suresh Akhouri, N.K. Trikha, K.M. Sahani and the Madhya Pradesh Labour Department’s Principal Secretary Sewaram.
Representatives of Madhya Pradesh Shramjeevi Patrakar Sangh, National Union of Journalist (NUJ), Journalist Union of Madhya Pradesh (JUMP) and MP Working Journalists Union among others met the Wage Board members to submit their demands.
