The BJP on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to hand over the investigation into the Vyapam scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation and said it was always for it.

“We welcome the CBI probe,” Madhya Pradesh Minister and party general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya told journalists at the party headquarters here.

He said the court had “agreed” to the State government’s request for a CBI probe

So far, the investigation was being done by the STF under the Special Investigation Team monitored by the Jabalpur High Court.

In Bhopal, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan welcomed the decision, calling it a relief.

“Now I am feeling relieved. The truth in this case should come out,” he told reporters here after returning from New Delhi.

The Congress called for Governor Ram Naresh Yadav to resign on moral grounds after the court issued notice to him on a petition filed by a group of lawyers asking for his removal.
