After an Italian court >reversed the acquittal of executives of company Finmeccanica and convicting them for “over-invoicing” the sale of a dozen helicopters for Indian VVIPs in 2010, James Christian Michel, the alleged middleman, insisted that he was a victim of “political conspiracy."
In a rare interview to The Hindu, Mr. Michel revealed that he has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the offer to be questioned in the scam.
"I was disappointed to learn that the CBI and ED had reopened a case [pertaining to AugustaWestland deal] against me in September when as late as July the CBI announced the closure of the case due to lack of evidence," he wrote.
In the letter dated November 8, 2015, he pointed out "errors" in the CBI and ED'd submission against him seeking a non-bailable warrant.
