The Election Commission will organise a voter enrolment camp at more than 9.30 lakh centres nationwide on Sunday.

Talking to journalists here on Saturday, Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath said voters could verify their details on the list at the nearest centres. If a voter found his name omitted, he could get it enrolled through on-the-spot registration. The EC would initiate stern action against any party or contestant found violating the model code of conduct. It would maintain a strict vigil on election expenditure. He said possession of unauthorised money would attract action. People should be aware that they were forbidden to carry cash in excess of Rs.50,000 without proper documents during the election period.

Answering a question, he said it was only to suit the security requirements that the Lok Sabha elections were being conducted in nine phases. Earlier, on his arrival at the Tirumala temple complex, Mr. Sampath was received by TTD Joint Executive Officer K.S. Srinivasa Raju and temple priests and taken to the sanctum sanctorum where he offered prayers during the Laghu Darshan like any other commoner.
