Vindoo’s custody extended

May 29, 2013 12:34 am | Updated June 08, 2016 07:39 am IST - MUMBAI:

A city court on Tuesday extended till May 31 the custody of actor Vindoo Dara Singh, hawala operator Alpesh Taneja and bookie Prem Taneja, who have been arrested for the Indian Premier League spot-fixing scandal.

Shortly after the verdict, Vindoo’s wife Dina Umarova told journalists that her husband was being “victimised.” “He has admitted that he was betting. He has told them [investigators] everything. So why are they still holding him?”

“You all created a big issue about my husband who is the greatest man I [have] met all my life, with a big and golden heart. His is a bailable offence, but Vindoo is being victimised for political issues in India,” said Dina, a Russian model. Vindoo was arrested on May 21 for his alleged links with bookies, suspected of spot-fixing.
