Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal has quit the Lok Sabha, Speaker Meira Kumar announced in the House on Wednesday.

Mr. Rajagopal said he took a principled stand four years back that he would quit the Lok Sabha and also active politics if Andhra Pradesh was divided.

Mr. Rajagopal, who was earlier expelled from the Congress for giving a notice for moving a no-confidence motion against the UPA government in the Lok Sabha, created a controversy by spraying pepper from a canister to protest the move to create a separate Telangana.
