The Supreme Court will pronounce on Wednesday its verdict on the appeal filed by 80-year-old Pakistani microbiologist Mohammad Khalil Chisti against the Rajasthan High Court judgment upholding a trial court’s decision to convict him in a more than two-decade old murder case in Ajmer and award him life sentence.

Dr. Chisti was granted bail by the apex court on humanitarian grounds in April this year. A Bench of Justices P. Sathasivam and Ranjan Gogoi had reserved verdict last week on the appeal filed by the octogenarian.
