Vayalar Ravi to be airlifted to Chennai

Overseas Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi, who met with an accident in the African nation of Liberia, is expected to be airlifted on Thursday to Chennai for further medical treatment.

Doctors at a private hospital in Cote d’Ivoire where Mr. Ravi was being treated after being airlifted from Liberia on Friday last said the Minister will be thoroughly checked before being flown to India.

The minister will be flown to Chennai by a special Indian Airforce flight IFC 34 and later taken to Madras Medical Mission hospital.

In Abidjan, he received treatment at Pisam hospital after an initial medical attention at John F Kennedy hospital in Monrovia, Liberia from where he was flown to Cote d’Ivoire.

Mr. Ravi was touring some African countries when he was injured in a road accident.
