Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and senior RSS ideologue M.G. Vaidya paid tributes to Balasaheb Thackeray here on Saturday.
Mr. Singh, who was here to attend a seminar on the utility of small States, said: “Mr. Thackeray fought till his last breath. All his life, he lived for a cause. A great politician and thinker who showed a new way to this country and politics, is no more with us. This is certainly a big loss.”
“May his soul rest in peace and may God give strength to his family members in this difficult time,” he said.
Mr. Vaidya, in his condolence message, said: “We have lost a ‘Shouryashali’ [brave] leader and this is a big loss to the nation. There are very few individuals whose words are obeyed by lakhs of followers. Mr. Thackeray was one such individual. He had clarity of thought and had ‘Abhiman’ [pride] of Marathi and Hindutva. He was the nation’s pride. His memories will always push us towards ‘Rashtraseva’ [service to the motherland].”
