Two detained in connection with NIA officer's murder

A senior official said that "property dispute" has emerged as the likely motive behind the murder.

The Uttar Pradesh Police is said to have detained two prime suspects for their alleged role in the murder of ational Investigation Agency (NIA) Inspector's Tanzil Ahmed who was shot dead in front of his wife and children last week.

A senior official said that "property dispute" has emerged as the likely motive behind the murder.

"We are in touch with U.P police and they have told us that they are close to cracking the case," said an NIA official.

A senior home ministry official said that police has so far not found any evidence to suggest any "terror angle" to the killing.

Ahmed's wife Farzana, who also received bullet injuries, is still critical.
