William Lee, a U.S.-based evangelist who had been remanded in judicial custody till October 18, was admitted to the Thrissur Government Medical College Hospital on Sunday, after he complained of chest pain.
He was arrested in Kochi for violating visa norms and addressing a gospel convention. He was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-I in Kochi on Saturday.
“He complained of chest pain after being brought to the Ernakulam Sub-Jail on Saturday around 5 p.m.. He was taken to the Ernakulam District Hospital around 7 p.m. and then referred to the Thrissur Government Medical College Hospital,” said C. C. Raju, Superintendent of the Ernakulam Sub-Jail.
The police brought him to Thrissur and William Lee was admitted to the Medical College Chest Hospital on Sunday around 3.30 a.m.. His condition is reported to be stable. “He is being given symptomatic treatment now. Tests are being conducted. He is under medical observation,” said Dr. R. Mahadevan, Superintendent of the Chest Hospital.
