UAVs to scour terrain

Two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and nearly 400 personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to help rescue the people trapped under debris following the landslide at Malin in Pune district.

The UAVs will fly over Ambegaon in Pune to help the operations, an NDRF spokesperson said. Nine teams of the NDRF, comprising 378 trained personnel who are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and communication sets, have also been deployed. Six more teams of NDRF, comprising 240 personnel, have been kept on standby at Gandhinagar.
