Two school children killed in Telangana road mishap

July 25, 2014 02:04 pm | Updated 09:44 pm IST - NIZAMABAD (Telangana):

A speeding lorry laden with coconuts hit two students who were going on cycle to Madrasa (Arabic School) killing them on the spot at Sarangapur village on Nizamabad-Bodhan road on Friday morning.

The children were identified as Shaik Mujahid (12) and Syed Ghouse (11), sons of Shaik Ahmed and Syed Ahmed. The bodies were mutilated beyond recognition as they came under the back wheel with the lorry going to Bodhan side hitting them from behind. The lorry driver fled the scene.

Revenue Divisional Officer (Bodhan) Shyam Prasad Lal, Deputy SPs Tajuddin and S. Anilkumar (Nizamabad), CIs and SIs of police from both the towns rushed to the spot to prevent any untoward incident. They assured the villagers that the Government would sanction ex-gratia to the victim families and action be taken against the erring driver.

However, a pall of gloom descended on the Sarangapur village, 10 km away from here with parents and relatives crying inconsolably at the bodies of children.
