Two militants killed in Assam

Two militants, one from the ULFA and one from the NDFB, were killed on Saturday in separate encounters in lower Assam.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of four ULFA militants in Maladhara in Lakhipur police station of Goalpara district, a joint operation by police and the Army was launched and one militant was killed on the spot while the other three managed to flee.

The slain militant was identified as ‘Sergeant’ Dilip Rabha alias Laden of the outfit’s 109 battalion.

A M-20 pistol, eight rounds of ammunition, two Chinese grenades, six gelatine sticks, ten detonators and Rs. 3,500 in cash were recovered from the slain militant.

Another NDFB militant was killed in an encounter with security forces during a joint operation by police and the Army at Bijni in Chirang district.

A 9mm pistol and some documents were recovered from the slain militant, sources said.
