As the NDA government’s stand on seeking resignations of UPA-appointed Governors remains undiluted, there are indications that two Governors will step down soon from their posts.
While Nagaland Governor Ashwini Kumar is believed to have conveyed his desire to the government to put in his papers soon, West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan is also learnt to be inclined towards resigning, sources in the government said on Monday. While Mr. Narayanan is a former chief of the Intelligence Bureau and former National Security Adviser in the UPA regime, Mr. Kumar is a former CBI Director.
CBI to examine NarayananThe CBI has indicated that it intended to examine Mr. Narayanan and Goa Governor B.V. Wanchoo, a former chief of the Special Protection Group (SPG), as witnesses in its probe into the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal.
Last week, when Nagaland Governor met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, he had denied having received any communication from the Centre to put in his papers. But if an order came, he would accept it, he said.
Puducherry Lt. Governor Virendra Kataria also met the Home Minister on Monday and sources said that the two held discussions on development projects, financial situation and projects pending with the Centre.
