Two persons were today taken into custody by the police as part of the investigations into the alleged scam relating to the ongoing Army recruitment at Hanamkonda in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh.

Kondal Reddy and Rajeshwar Reddy have been taken into custody after they had brought six candidates from Haryana and other States by giving them fake domicile certificates from Ranga Reddy district to enable them to get through the Army recruitment selection process, police sources said.

“The duo are being further interrogated,” the sources said even as investigations revealed the involvement of one retired Army officer who had allegedly collected huge amounts from non-local youths and provided them with false documents.

The retired Army officer is still at large, an investigating officer told PTI adding, “It’s very difficult to nab him (retired army officer) as he has strong links.”

The recruitment drive is for youths from nine districts of Telangana region, but police had found that non- local youths had made their way into the recruitment, and also arrested over 70 youths from Haryana and Rajasthan, after they attacked local candidates and police on Saturday night.
