Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and briefed him on the Telangana issue. T.K.A. Nair, Political Adviser to the Prime Minister, was present.
Mr. Rao is meeting the Prime Minister for the first time after the Union government began the process of talks with recognised political parties on the issue.
Informed sources told The Hindu that Mr. Rao wanted the Centre to immediately announce the mechanism for continuing the process of formation of a Telangana state.
Mr. Rao is expected to brief the Joint Action Committee on Telangana and the future course of action would be taken in consultation with the committee.
The JAC had announced that it would continue the agitation peacefully without causing any hindrance to the people till the Centre announced a clear-cut time frame for forming a Telangana state.
The TRS had made it clear to the Centre that it would not accept any move for setting up another States Reorganisation Commission.
Meeting on Tuesday

The JAC will hold a meeting on Tuesday to chalk out its future course of action.
TRS legislator Harish Rao told reporters on Sunday that the JAC would intensify the agitation if the Centre failed to make any commitment on carving out a Telangana state within a clear time frame.
He said all the forces fighting for a Telangana state acted with patience and restraint since the all-party meeting.
“We are waiting for the announcement with utmost restraint but any attempt to put the issue in cold storage will have serious repercussions,” he said.
Mr. Harish Rao denied reports in a section of the media that Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao was aspiring for a berth in the Union Cabinet. “The report is ridiculous. KCR himself sent his resignation as MP to the Lok Sabha Speaker. We appeal to people not to believe these rumours,” he said.
He urged the Press Council of India to take action against the newspapers carrying such reports.
