Rail traffic on Kozhikode-Kannur section of Southern Railways was disrupted on Sunday after a truck fell down on the tracks from a over bridge near Koyilandi, railway sources said.

The mishap occurred in the early hours when the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle on the Chengottukavu Railway Over Bridge and crashed down on the double line track.

The driver escaped unhurt but several trains running on both directions on the line connecting Shoranur and Mangalore have been detained at different stations, the sources said.

Senior police officials have rushed to the spot to supervise clearance of the blockade.
