Kulbhushan Jadhav case: India denied consular access again

Pakistan on Sunday again rejected India’s request for consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was sentenced to death in April this year under charges of espionage and terrorism. India on Saturday requested Pakistan to grant full and early consular access to Mr. Jadhav, as the two countries exchanged lists of prisoners lodged in each other’s jails. Pakistan has turned down at least five such requests since Mr. Jadhav’s arrest from Balochistan province last year.

Woman police officer in U.P. who arrested BJP leaders, transferred 

Shrestha Thakur , the woman police officer in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh who took on local BJP leaders for violating traffic rules last week, was transferred to Behraich district on Saturday. Ms. Thakur, the circle officer of Syana in Bulandshahr, had arrested five BJP workers on charges of obstructing a government servant from discharging duty. The video of Ms. Thakur scolding the senior BJP workers of Bulandshahr allegedly for breaking traffic rules and demanding relaxation, had gone viral getting her praise for doing her duty despite political pressure from the local leaders of the ruling party.

Revenue Secretary takes to Twitter to dispel ‘myth on GST’

On the second day of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) implementation across the country, the Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance Hasmukh Adhia took to Twitter to dispel what he said were the seven myths on GST. Later, he responded to questions on GST. 

Local BJP leader arrested for Ramgarh lynching incident 

A local BJP leader was among two persons arrested while another person surrendered in court in connection with the lynching of a meat trader in Ramgarh district recently, police said. Nityanand Mahato, the local BJP leader, and Santosh Singh were arrested in the case.

Car bombs rock Syrian capital, killing 8

A series of car bomb explosions rocked Syria’s capital Sunday, killing at least eight people and wounding 12, as officials claimed to have foiled a plot to target crowded areas during the first morning commute after a Muslim holiday.

Apple slashes iPhone, Mac prices in India

Soon, travel in Economy AC coaches in trains

Train passengers will soon have option of travelling in a new class of ‘Economy AC coaches’ with fares less than normal 3AC tariff. The proposed fully air-conditioned train will have three-tier Economy AC coaches besides AC-3, AC-2 and AC-1 classes as part of the transformation exercise. An added feature would be automatic doors.
