A day after the party's disastrous showing in the Assembly elections, Congress president Sonia Gandhi sent out several messages to the faithful, when she made a consciously staged public appearance before the press: she was still in charge, she wanted the import of the electoral verdict to be taken seriously and party members to take their responsibilities seriously.
But she also sent out a message to party leaders, taking a swipe at those who had guided the campaign in Uttar Pradesh. She laughed and said, while answering a question on the lack of leadership, “I will say rather than the lack of leadership... actually we have too many leaders. Perhaps that's our problem.”
The next challenge — the Assembly elections in the BJP-ruled States — would have to be faced squarely, she stressed. “We have Gujarat, then we have Himachal... Karnataka yes... we have to pull our socks up and get going.”
But all was not lost, and the results would not have any impact on the stability of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition.
To a question on UPA allies, she said: “We have seen in the past that the opposition has been in some cases a little... well unhelpful. My view [and] .. that of the Prime Minister and government is that if we continuously and regularly stay in touch and talk to our coalition partners and opposition, [then] on issues which are beneficial to the people of the country, I have every hope, they will understand and support [us].”
After an interregnum of several months — in which she had taken a back seat, thanks largely to ill-health — Ms. Gandhi stepped out into the public domain. Interestingly, it was immediately after a series of one-on-one meetings she had on Wednesday morning with general secretaries in charge of the States that had gone to the polls at her rarely used office at the party headquarters, not behind the heavily guarded high walls of 10 Janpath.
General secretary in charge of U.P. Digvijay Singh met her on Tuesday: he is believed to have offered his resignation, which was not accepted. On Wednesday, she said all those in charge of the States had worked very hard.
Ms. Gandhi's interaction with the media was of a piece with son and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi accepting publicly the responsibility for the verdict in U.P. on Tuesday — sending out a signal that while they meant to analyse the results, and find out what or who went wrong, they were also willing to accept responsibility for failure.

due to BANIYA PARTY BJP, sonia gandhi missed an opportunity to become PM and india lost a great leader..
Too many Leaders can never be a problem. In fact, our country needs it.
Sonia must know that it's Leader's job is not only to lead the group but
also join the group and become a follower wherever needed. A true Leader
take everyone ahead and if many of them creating a problem for any
political party means that they still don't understand the real
role/meaning of 'Leader'.
It seems that the people of their very constituencies are not liking the sonia-rahul rule so if they can't satisfy their constituencies how can they even think of satisfying the needs of this country.
Problem for Congress is not " too many leaders" The problem is actually scarcity of good leaders across. During Nehrus period, he was encouraging Regional leaders all overs India. We had leaders like Kamaraj,Chauvan,Nijalingappa,Lalbhadur,Morarji and many more who could taken decisionsin their States.Today, even for appointing a Youth Wing committee member in a State, approval need to be sought at Delhi. Sonia and Rahul need to undergo training on "Delegation of Power and authority" to make Congress a Party with credibility in States
"Too many leaders are our problem", says a leader who is not worthy of
being one!
Sonia should accept this statement for Tamil Nadu also. Too many
leaders in Tamil Nadu congress spoil the party and frequent clashes in
between them forced the public to forget congress. There should be
only one leader for congress in Tamil Nadu and he or she should be
capable of retaining the party in tamil nadu. The present situation of
congress is nothing but C for clash and the same C for Congress. In
other words clash in congress is the order of the day. Otherwise sonia
cannot dream of congress to get more seats in MP and in Assembly also
but will not come to power in future in Tamil Nadu. All Daily
newspapers reports will show what is going on in Congress in Tamil
Nadu.
I totally agree with Soniaji Madamji. The problem is that there are too many leaders. There should only be the leaders from the good gandhi family. It is not right that everyone and anyone can be a leader. This is the problem with India and the Indian people that they do not recognise atleast not all of them that the Gandhi family members should be the only leaders or atleast the people who get the OK from the Gandhi family should only be leaders in India. That will be the greatest day for India as Siniaji Madamji says.
this is not the ending... in every further elections they have to face
it ... because their party is filled with so many corrupt ministers and
they aren't doing anything to compensate it....
About time Congress was booted out. They tried to play divide and rule in UP, allocating reservations for different sections of society and dividing people along religious lines. They are trying to create more divisions in society. Also playing vote bank politics with the Muslim community for their own gains. What have they achieved during their central rule of India over the last few years?
If only the BJP had a decent young ruler to take the country to a better level. Also there is a lot of corruption and politicians making false promises for their own gain.
Unlike olden days workers are too expensive to buy. Congress realised it now but too late.
Salman Khurshid,Veni Prasad,Digvijay Singh,Rita joshi...etc should feel shame as Sonia clearly stated that too many leaders were one of the causeses of the failure.
These leaders kept on sensitizing communal issues like batla encounter muslim quota... even they didn't care code of conduct...challenged CEC to hang.
Now people are not fool they understand why are you all making such statements at this time.
There is a small error in what Mrs. Sonia Gandhi said, Congress Party does not have "Too many leaders " as she said but what it has is really : "Too many PLEADERS" :-)
Nehru clan no longer be an asset either to the Congress or the Country.Things going bad to worse owing to their mismanagement of party affairs as well the national affairs. The position of the PM -Manmohan Singh seem awkward.Sonia can if desired can either retain or drop him,as he is not the majority leader in the House. He is after all her choice. With this foibles,India can hardly move to a bigger and higher position in the world affairs.Indians no longer call themselves as proudly Indian, thanks to the surging of corrupt politicians in the Country, having power or without power
Mrs. Gandhi, you first take responsibility as Congress President and resign for the dismal performance of your party.
Why is it that inspite of all these, you again become the president of the party, unopposed? This talks a lot about the democracy you have within your own party.
Well this is the joke of the century. The real problem is that the
Congress party has no leader to lead.If there is one leader who can
lead, the problem of "too many leaders will never "arise". The people who
cannot lead properly should put the interests of the party ahead of
their family, realize their incompetence and leave the position for
suitable people. We really need people like Mahatma Gandhi,Nehru,Patel
and not the crowd which attaches 'Gandhi" to their names with no or any
of the qualities of Mahatma.
Sonia's painstaking efforts to find reasons for debacle of Congress in the recent elections is not necessary. Corruption, especially corruption involved in 2G scam is sufficient for their fall. Today, people consider Congress as a Party with most corrupt people and with a leadership that does nothing to check or curb this. Whether the leadership of the Party is a beneficiary of all these scams is a different issue. But its reputation today is at its lowest ebb. The PM, though a very honest person (like Dr.Abdul Kalam), is not an effective leader who allowed large scams to take place under his nose. He gave an excuse that it was Coalition Dharma to tolerate all atrocities by the allies. He is in meditation mode all the time without any charisma. More than all, they are trying to thrust Rahul on us, as the PM. This is atrocious. Sonia somehow wants to make him PM. But what kind of experience or wisdom this boy has to become the PM of this Nation. Stalwarts are leaders of other countries and Rahul will be a laughing stock in front of them. It will be the biggest mistake in our History, if Rahul is thrust on us. It will be a big disaster for our country. If Congress has to revive and regain a good image, they have to change the leader ship and shun the idea of making Rahul the PM , in order to please his mother. His mother is not more important than the people of the country. They have to have good spokespersons who do not hurt the feelings of certain sections of the people – especially the Hindus.
Too many leaders in the Congress? Yeah right, you want us to believe
that Sonia? And you chose the candidates. Take the rap.
Sonia Gandhi has failed to see the real picture. A charismatic leader does not need secondary leaders to transform goodwill into votes. The real reason is that the "Gandhi charisma" has jaded and faded away.
The UP Assembly results are a slap at the face of Gandhi family, UPA government and Congress party. Congress has left Aam Aadmi high and dry. Rising prices have made the lives of common man horrible.
People are fed up with political gimmicks, empty promises and goodwill gestures.
'
The message from the five states is loud and clear. A big No to Congress. It is a warning for the UPA to mend their ways.
It is true that Congress has too many "equal" leaders in many states. But Sonia Gandhi complaining about is wrong. It is New Delhi which never allows any one leader in a state to grow beyond the others as if such a powerful state leader may pose a problem to the Gandhi family or its sycophants. If one sees around, after Indira gandhi, no Indian State has produced a respactable Congress leader. A leader without total confidence would not allow others to grow to his / her height, fearing competition.
Too many leaders means there is no one in the party who have full authority in the party which means there are many ego clashes in the party.
I think that is the reason for Nehru family to head this for more than 60 yrs.. When the party members are not able to decide on the chief of the party, they just give that post to the family. We all know that Sonia and Rahul are few of the worst leaders in the history of Congress party and that's d reason 4 their loss in this election..
To survive, Congress has to look for leaders outside the Nehru family..
What Soniaji has told is correct. There are so many Leaders. But she is not! Don't worry Indians and Mighty Press. You will vote back Congress. Soniaji knows about your poor memory!
"wrong choice of candidates" i guess she meant congress might have
sent more muslim faces on the battle ground. all other reasons for
party's failure are meaningless the only thing Congress should
better understand now is : in future no more muslim votes for them
unless it projects itself as a muslim party.
Congress President has done the appropriate thing to address the
media on the congress reaction to the election results. Mrs. Gandhi
referred to the phenomenon of too many leaders. This is an asset and
not a liability. The only thing was that they were let loose on the
electorate with their verbal onslaughts. It was toon much of an
arrogance for the congress leaders to announce repeatedly that Rahul
would anyday become the PM. The result is a reaction to those.
Happily, the congress did not get an opportunity to take recourse to
presidential rule. As for the impact on UPA of these elections, it
will be unrealistic to say that these election results will not have
an effect. Hopefully UPA should reshape their conduct and behavior
not only to the opposition parties but to the allies as well. Note the
imperiousness with which the congress president said of Dr. Singh
continuing as prime minister till 2014 as if he were an employee.
Is it too many leaders or the other way round?
Biggest wrong was to choose Rahul as master campaigner. After all every
one wants to know, what is his specialty except that he is great grand
son of Jawahar Lal nehru
Sonia Gandhi most definitely thought that her son's road to 7 Race Course Road lay through the large and populous State of Uttar Pradesh. She mobilised everything her party had in terms of leaders, workers, friendly media and everything else needed to help her son to conquer Uttar Pradesh on his way to mount the throne in New Delhi. But the son came a cropper in his attempt to get a strong presence, if not a majority for the Congress in UP. When will she and her son realise that one has to evolve as the top leader of the country through hard work in the service of the people for a long enough period of time.
How can Mrs. Gandhi blame poll debacle on price rise and too many leaders? This reminds me the american saying, " too many chiefs and no indians(american)". Also reminds me of congress leader Kamaraj Nadar's defeat by DMK in late sixties for scarcity of rice and not paying attention to hindi language protests in Tamil Nadu. People have short memory of history. It would not be a surprise if Conress is routed out in the next general election the way Congress party was routed out in late sixties in Tamil Nadu.
Though no political party would like to give credit for electoral gains or loss to the movement launched by Swami Ramdeo and Anna Hazare against corruption and black money, but it is a fact that Congress lost battle in many parts of the country except Manipur due to movement started by Anna Hazare and Swami Ramdeo against corruption, price rise, 2G spectrum case and the movement started by almost all central trade unions.Mayavati too lost the battle due to corruption in the administration and the party. It is known many BSP ministers were sent to jail for different reasons. All the factors added one by one cost Congress and Mayavati dearly. Candidate selection may be one of the factors, but it has been that many undeserving candidates win election if there is wave in favour of any party.
We need to reduce expenditure on unnecessary ventures like lunar, mars missions etc which are not going to yield any benefit to the common man. Our scientists are taking us in the wrong path when the west is even abandoning the missions and the space stations after finding it difficult to sustain. Use that millions of rupees to improve healthcare, water, electricity. Never give credit only based on caste or religion. Give credit to merit. Stop influence over law and order. It seems that thugs rule the place now. Where is the respect for elders and the knowledgable these days. Bring corporates under anti corruption law. Have clean administration in every low level offices where people get shunted by arrogant officials. For example passport offices, collectorates etc. Imagine the plight of govt servants or retired trying to get medical expenses reimbursed - should see to believe the tragedy. Getting a meagre amount of what they have actually contributed health fund after undue delay.
Who selected the candidates? Was it the BJP or CPI (M)? Who makes the organization? Is it Mayawati or Mulayam Singh? Who caused the price rise? Is it China,Pakistan or Russia? All these excuses are as illogical as illogic can be. What else can you expect? Unfortunately our media print it as though some great Truth has been uttered and also seem to be hypnotised. The Congress, as a Party, is just a conglomeration of corrupt crooks who are enjoying public money raised by taxes ( most of which are not properly accounted for) and they make schemes by which their cadre can make money illegally and fool the public that they are for the poor.In every state where they have ruled we find a large amount of corruption.
Sonia Gandhi has blamed too 'too many leaders' for the failure of the party at the hustings.May I ask her to have a re-look at the website of the All India Congress Committee. It depicts the pictures of her and her son only alongside the prime minister Shri Manmohan Singh.
The excuse provided by the great grand- daughter - in- law of Motilal Nehru is laughable at best. According to her Cong(I) has "too many leaders..". In fact the party does not have a single leader to show in last 60+ years. That's why Mahatma Gandhi's choice Jawaharlal Nehru was the PM, followed by others who have nothing but a family name, that too, a 'borrowed' family name (Gandhi instead of Nehru) to show for themselves. The party has purposely discredited Narasimha Rao, and will do the same with Manmohan Singh, when his 'utility' to the party is finished. Congress has become an anti- thesis of the very concept of 'leadership'. Any person worth his salt having leadership ambitions will not join Cong I.
Charity begins at home so does belt tightening. The Gandhi family had four leaders in the election campaign (Sonia, Rahul, Priyanka and Robert). Mrs.Gandhi, how about sacking your son (whose only qualification) for the dismal performance instead of looking for scapegoats outside your own family. Guys like Digvijiay did help to keep the voters away from Congress but the buck stops with you and your family.
Ageing factor is apparent in Congress President Sonia Gandhi who led the party all these days with greater vigour and enthusiasm. But can she do this forever? Siblings influence on Indian masses is very limited as there are usually away from public glare. Most of the party cadre is selfish wealthy people who throng around for making money and not Gandhian public service. As things stand Congress should go in 2014 due to bad governance (Incumbancy factor) for a decade filled with scams. But then who will fill the slot, BJP combine or Third front of disgruntled elements with divergent views? For better function of democracy in India electoral reforms are necessary with public participation. People are getting matured day by day and vote for people of high integrity, zeal for solving people real problems and take care of national interest.
People may not be on the side of the Congress party, which means Sonia Gandhi and her son, but the heart of the Indian media, certainly that of the the English language media, seems to be still with that party and the Gandhis. Hope some political analyst(s) will enlighten us on why this is so.
This whole situation in our country is rather sad for any patriotic Indian, who can be bothered with using his brain.
Being a country with more than 1.2b population, it is quite sad that our country is practically run by an Italian born lady. For the past 62 years of Independence, our country has mostly been headed by the Nehru family. It sometimes, leaves me wonder if they are the "Kings" of the modern India. Did we become a kingdom from Republic while I was unaware?
It is the ignorance of the people who believe in PR stunts to attract attention and pretend to be a 'normal' person. Adding on to that, I personally do not see any worthy opponent. BJP is too radical to get voted from the Muslim community and the neutral community. I highly doubt that they are any better than the congress when it comes to corruption. What ever we say or write, is not going to change the fact that eventually Gandhi family will once again rule our nation in the near future. Sad but true!
Imposed leaders have been thrown out by the conscious voters of UP. They are required to come from native land and feel the pulse of the people. Leaders can not command each and every thing from the national capital or state capitals.Earler days people use to follow their leaders but naw a days they are brought in trucks, buses and other transports to show the muscle powers of the leaders. There is not even a single national leader which is unfortunate. The feeling of oneness is slowly degerating
Niro was Fiddling while Rome was Burning. UP may be the Cow Belt, but even they have kicked out Dynastic, Swiss Bank and Vote Bank loving, Divide and Rule Congresss, riddled with Corruption. There is a lesson here for all parties especially for BJP. If you want to survive
A. Bring in plenty of Young, Fresh, Educated, Dynamic faces
B. Empower the young faces, at least in States to learn and survive.
C. Think long and hard of ways to make Our country get ahead. Do this fast, before the next election.
Too many leaders are our problem, says Sonia
sonia ji please remove yourself from the leadership as you have lived your life lavishly with your children and leave the people of India for the people of India to manage.
Thank you very much.
sonia ji says too many leaders ..common ,leaders are those who look
the development of country not the devlopment of they and their
family, congress has too many leaders with too little good hearts..if
it weren't so then kapil sibal being a lawyer should not have given
telecom ministry..u can purchase 1 million votes by money power and
liquor but not 120 crores of people..rahulji should actively
participate in making decisons of national interest not jumping over
the barricades of security..
Mrs Sonia Gandhi, blames now about the price increase, so many leaders in her own party, etc. These are all bulshit.SHe lacs movement with the mass and think of her own self, in amasing wealth, gone aborad without any information, not travelling through length breadth of india, as NEhru, and Indira gandhi, keep Manmohan on her palm ever for his movement or his speech, while her own congress MPS, make hay while sun shine and most of congress MPS, are now the Rajas or Maharajas of erstwhile to preindependance, when Patel removed all PRincely states by a law, while most of the MPs are now taken their plce.THE TIME HAS COME FOR CHAN GE IN THE CENTRE IS NOT FAR AWAY, as seen from the recent elevction results, where congress is loosing ground.while the regional parties are coming to rule the states.
MRs soni gandhi/raghul has to exert pressure on all leaders to come together for all out fight as ONE MAN ,IN THE FUTURE GENERAL ELECTIONS.
FIRST THERE SHOULD BE A CHANGE IN THE PRESIDENSHIP.
UPA government had a hand in price rise and was it not aware of it when campaign was done by Rahul and when defeated, why attribute the post analytical factor as a cause. As Rahul did it why not she accept it was also a failure on part of her son to handle the election issue. Always accept defeat gracefully,
Almost all the Political parties in India do not believe in democracy.
They are all guided and controlled by a family-Congress, NCP, SP,SAD
BSP,DMK,RJD, or a few chosen ones AIADMK, BJD or by remote control
BJP(RSS).
When will the political parties realize that they cannot rely on a few
sycophants?
Till the day the political parties implement democratic rule in their
party operations from the grass roots we will be viewers of these
circuse shows.
We Indians (mainly middle class; working; taxpayers) keep on harping here and provide long comments, venting out our unrest with the present form of misrule and misconduct as exemplified by the present UPA government. This is a dismal performance by the Congress, maybe its their time to go, but hey look whom we have bought, another goon in UP - who is famous for forging DP Yadav and likes to his advantage. The problem is we forget and forgive very soon. Last year we were with Anna and look we are again here sitting and commenting, the Ravan is still alive and well...
And finally when things get out of our hands some enlightened gentleman would go and appeal in supreme court. But the decision is given by someone who is himself a nepotic kinsman of the government.
Alas, my idea of India and democracy has failed...
Can we atleast expect the 'Alice' to come out of her 'wonderland' that she has created around her?? not just wrong candidates, the main reason was corruption, lack of vision for the nation, and above all....hoping miracles will work out of the Gandhi family. The Gandhi family should make way for a new leader. I know they are not reading this, but some wise person can atleast advise them!!
Then why don't you do us all a favor and step down!
Sonia Gandhi is a genuine leader, had she led the UP campgain congress could have come to power.
Leadership of Sonia Gandhi is the cause of complete wash out of congress in
U.P.elections. People of India will opt to give complete rest in forthcoming Lok
Sabha election.
It is the women of UP who voted out the congress. With the 400 percent
rise in vegetable prices along with the rise in LPG and general
inflation caused by the diesel price rise they have been feeling the
daily pinch in quiet desperation. The vast majority of voters do not
belong to the organised sector which is compensated by Dearness
Allowance and various pay commissions. The mother of all defeats will
come in 2014 when the Rahul Ghandi inspired market rates being paid
to tribals by coal mining companies takes effect in the form of a 30
percent rise in power costs and the avoidable outflow of foreign
exchange to import millions of tonnes of coal because Sonia Ghandi's
pet environment ministry wants to preserve forests, tribals ,and
retilian life at the cost of 1.1 billion Indians. In 2014 the only
people who will vote congress will be the tribals who have benifited
from Rahul Ghandi's largesse.Arunachal Pradesh will be lost as Defence
is being impacted by coal imports.
I'm not against to a particular party. The real fools are people. Not the leaders. When they stop taking money to vote a person, then automatically the corruption will go down. It is very hard to become a leader in India now a days. One important thing that everyone of us to understand is politics is not a business. It is mission to improve people life. The leaders should have the passion to serve to country. Not to eat money and make the country more poor.
This news item follows a pattern that has not lost the irony on the Indian voters. Giving fillip to the dynasty by the English media despite common man’s better judgment should normally be construed as something else. The wisdom of common man as displayed in the last few elections in UP and Bihar has not caught the attention of the ‘intellectuals’ in the media. Common man has tried every option available to them without attempting to repeat the same mistake. If SP does not perform, it appears that they too will bite the dust in the next elections.
Personally, I think the English media lives in a false world of its own making having lost touch with the reality on ground.
Mrs.Sonia Gandhi's contention that price rice could be the reason for their defeat is a strange narrative. She willingly ignores the facts that the party has no organization in UP, no cadre and no regional leader to project as CM candidate. If there was really a strong leader he would have been jettisoned as he could have been a threat to Mr.Rahul Gandhi. This obsession with one family not only weakened the party but also destroyed the moral fabric of the country where every political party sees the political family dynasties as an asset.
The only way for the current political culture will improve is to open
up the selection of candidate based upon free and open elections like
the Primaries in USA which encourages a vigorous discussion of the
current issues of the country. In India it is always dynastic selection
and that is very bad and that is why there are so many small parties.
All serious persons would have looked at the implicfations not only for thher party but for India as a whole. Firstly, the UPA government is on thin ice aas it relies on SP, BSP parties for its survical. One little move and dreams come shattering down. Also there are no leaders in India who could convince people of the validity of their imagination for India. Rahul is trouted as a leader who is basically a zero - people threw his leadership in his face. Gimmicks of reservation, divisions by caste and creed and complete proved useless. India is on the crossroads and both the leaders and people are ignoring the calamity which would befall us in the form of high prices, communalism, violence and ...
“I would say rather than lack of leadership, (there are) too many leaders... That is our problem.” ....... And that's NOT a leadership problem? This is same problem that even BJP is afflicted with, especially at national level.
If the party cannot get behind a person and march - and to make this point more explicit, party is ridden with factions ("many leaders" - then that by definition symbolizws lack of leadership!
There are 2 political tides sweeping India. One is the tide of pan-India political parties that aspire to rule the whole of India. The other tide is of regional parties that aspire to rule their states first and then, if possible, at the pan-Indian level. It was said the 2004 elections was the rise of the regional parties tide but political gurus reversed themselves in 2009 saying that pan-India tide is the one that is sweeping India in 2009. It is my prediction that 2014 would once again be a regional parties' tide and this election results are just the harbinger for 2014.
I want to thank UP voters for their decision. Congress should learn from corporates that only marketing and self-gain does not work in the India which is nothing but a big people corporate. People of this country not rejected the Congress party, they actually rejected the GANDHI Family. Sometime I wonder if other congress leader should get rid of Gnadhi Name from the party. They have some good and very respectable people like Mani Shankar, Pranab M, Sachin P, Sindhiya....there are many capable, intelligent and good leaders but they will lose just because of the GANDHI Name. India voted long time back on the name of Gandhi but I will never vote any leader with GANDHI surname. People didn't voted Rahul because of the hype he and paid media created (you know what I am referring to). I starts rejecting the product which comes 10 times on my TV screen thinking something is wrong with it which they are trying to hide by marketing.
Sonia and her family cannot identify with the common people of India. People cannot be fooled by Rahul and Priyanka. They just tried to fool people by eating and sleeping in people's house just before elections. Hope that in 2014, congress party loses and non-congress parties controlled by Indians win the elections.
Congress should admit that there is lack of a clear leader in
uttar pradesh, who can be projected as a CM...aye,we have star campaigners in priyanka and rahul who dont forget to pay a customary visit every five years before the polls but the mob has grown wise enough to look through...it is understandable that you go thick headed being the oldest political party....but its time for a change!!
Corruption is the issue in one form or other. Congress took brunt of the anti corruption attack and BJP also took the beating for blocking in the upper house. All Anna has to do is bring the corruption issue before the next national elections, the congress lose heavily and will never recover.
She will site 1001 reasons for this spectacular defeat. But will never agree poor party leadership. This is to protect her son. It is high time congress jettison this family out of party. there is no future for INC with this fake Gandhis.
It is apt to keep quiet, think and cast 'spine chilling' vote in national interest rather than offering comments.
Dear Mrs Gandhi, please don't give any excuses for the cause of your
failure. Do an in-depth analysis as to why did you lose the elections
in Uttar Pradesh. It's not only regarding price rise and the selection
of wrong choice of candidates but it's the root problem of corruption.
There is not even a single place where you have mentioned anything
regarding this. I am sure you must have realized it but you don't want
to cite this reason in front of the public, do you? Because if you do,
you won't be elected to power back again. Times have changed. This
generation of people is not naive, ignorant and stupid like its
predecessor. People have become more rational in the way they think.
They have also understood that the congress played a major role in all
the corruption scandals which surfaced in the last few years while
making your allies as remote controlled scapegoats.
Sonia Gandhi's statement that the rout of the Congress in Uttar Pradesh could have been due to price rise and wrong choice of the candidates makes only one laugh. It is like blaming the tools for a bad work. The popularity of the oldest party of the country is indeed waning. Someone other than from Nehru/Gandhi family must lead the party; otherwise, the Congress will definitely face disaster.
People of UP have given their consent symbolically that we do not need
Italians to rule us better they should go back to their motherland and
let Indians rule their country
satya
People of UP have given their consent symbolically that we do not need
Italians to rule us better they should go back to their motherland and
let Indians rule their country
The Sonia gandhi statement looks mature than the rest of the congress team. I find that the congress ruled states don't have stronger leaders. If there are leaders, they tend to become like YSR family. If there are no strong leaders, congress cannot win. If you take Gujarat, you have a strong person in command. If you take Punjab, Tamilnadu, there are strong organizations. Unless Congress sheds its one-family-party to a professional, it will be a greater challenge in the lok sabha elections.
Ms Sonia Gandhi is now figuring out various reasons for Congress defeat in the election. it would have been better if she had taken concrete steps before election so their party wouldn't have face
such defeat.
In "olden days" the Nehru's were saints. Pandit Nehru had been to jail for nine years in concern with India's Independence. Likewise Mahatmaji had also been to Jail for long terms in the same concern. The saffron brigade who were all British Chamcha's at that time have a selective memory. They prefer to downplay their own sycophancy and since their nature is to cause trouble they prefer to highlight the role of the Congress' Garam Dal i.e. Netaji Subhash Bose and revolutionaries such as Bhagat Singh all of whom have nothing in common with the Sangh but who serve as tools for the Sangh to needle the Congress with. Shameful opportunists!
What better can you expect from someone like Sonia Gandhi.
When there is no democracy in her own party, where no one else except a dynasty clan becomes the party president, this is what she will be expect to tell - blame the results on others - too many leaders, wrong choice of candidates.
If she was really serious about corruption, she will have chased up the government to follow up on black money, Lokpal bill etc.
What happened to Hasan Ali investigation? No one hears about it now. This is what is happening with the present government.
It is not my opininion that others are better in governing our country, but this government is clearly the worst and it is time the nation realised this and kick this party out of power for next 15 years.
The reason that Congress continues to lose in UP & Punjab is simply due to the
process of maturation & fragmentation of the Indian electorate. The typical person
on the Indian street knows fully well that the Congress party as presently
constituted in the Centre, does not give a tuppence regarding their welfare. They
are such willing facilitators for the policies of big money, both foreign & domestic.
Trotting out Prince Rahul or Princess Priyanka no longer does the trick. The
regional fragmentation, that only existed in places like Tamilnadu is slowly
spreading to the rest of the nation and thus to the fragmentation of the nation in
general. The party of Gandhi-Nehru has made a Faustian bargain with "Big Money"
at the expense of our nation's comity and hence these results.
The absurd antics of Rahul going and sharing a gruel in a hut while his mother flying to a foreign country for medical treatement would have angered the electorate
This election results should be an eye opener for congress and
congress should learn lesson from it.
It must realize that India is changing and now India youth is not
gullible they want a effective government that can bring change now
only making mere promises wont work, they will have to prove
themselves by materializing those promises.
First of all i would like to congragulate those assorted and amalgamated parties who won this 5 state bound elections. But, what makes me to annoy is that the state of Manipur is once again in the cluthes of corrupted Congress and state people may face a lot of woes in coming years after the congress sworn in power. If Congress had desired to make Lokpal bill come into force they would have did it when it was tabled initially, but they didnt and it is because of the Congress Ministers in the cabinet it is yet to passed. So Congress has lost people's credibility to do good for the people in India.
In our state every body knows that corruption and congress are
synonymous. There is no strict dealing of matters in execution whether
in policy making or execution. Everything is done to please somebody
personally and nobody thinks for people in general. Congress cannot be
cleaned as it has gone to such extent that people believe and understand
in their own way.
Like she admits, there are probably too many people who title themselves
"leaders" and there are none who can actually execute actions according
to a plan
The corruption factor played a vital role in the 4 states elections.Soniaji it is the truth. and you also know that. The media which played a vital role in this, "hats off to them".
Hope they will continue to bring the absurds in future also.\
Now that the elections are over, the indispensable need of the hour for the SP, BSP, BJP and the Congress Party is to offload their high voltage campaign baggage and unitedly strive to work in peace, harmony and determination for the progress of the state and the nation without dividing it on various grounds, needless to point out what they are.Let the biggest state of India make a tangible beginning and serve as a role model for other states. It makes no sense to cry from rooftops that " Kashmir to Kanyakumari,India is one " and shamelessly doing just the opposite.Let us all be Indians true to the slogan.
Indian Congress Party members only voted against party. Corruption is the main reason more than that party members are greedy about ticket. Best example Gandhi family have three members ticket for the election, the modern Indians are thinking, there are lot of congress party members are giving their effort for the party, but they all are not getting a chance as a candidate for the election. From this we can understand politics is not always serving the people, but own pocket.
1.Whom the Congress President accusing for selection of Candidates
knowing the Importance of this Election for them.Mr.Gandhi had TORN
publicly a list of Candidates for cheap publicity.Does Ms.Gandhi say that the candidates were selected by the State Congress.
The Price Rise was not of State Congress make.
UPA will not be affected since the CBI sword will always be rattled
to bring many leaders to toe the line of UPA.
Good decision by Mr.Mulayam Singh not to become the C.M.His son cannot be blackmailed.
The President,the P.M,five Cabinet Ministers,Priyanka ,Vadra ALL
canvassed in U.P and OFFERED much for Reservation.
Like most Indians I am wary and cynical about our political parties, particularly the Congress. The Congress, despite the presence of a few good men, is merely a congregation of self-serving socialistic sychophants. Given their 'split the country, the people, the society and the family' policies, I will be surprised if this country doesn't splinter the way the erstwhile Soviet Union did.
What this country needs most is a party of incorruptible statesmen, with the political will and individual credibility to make our country one "where the mind is without fear, and the head held high". A party of self-serving socialistic sychophants can never be that.
Yes,No Doubt price rise might have been a major stumbling block in the path of congress but what not only me but reports surfacing believe is that the collective failure of the UPA lies in not projecting anyone as their CM candidate. This has cost them a lot ..not only in UP but also in Uttarakhand.
It is great that the congress high command realised after the election results were announced that the wrong candidates were selected for contesting the elections. What about the wrong candidates now sitting in power? Does it mean that the policies followed by the UPA govt.are flawless and good for the aam aadmi all along? A bad workman quarrels with the tools.
There is only one lesson to be learnt from Cogress party's election fiasco and that is: leaders of political parties evolve growing from grassroots up by years of work among the people and fighting for their causes and not by thrusting some readymade leaders with no experience of working for the people on the political field. Being born in a well-known political family is in no way sufficient qualification to take on political leadership and guide a political party to power. If Sonia Gandhi and her subservient political collesgues thought that Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi can lead the Congress party to power in Uttar Pradesh, they were totally on a wrong track. The recent elections have shown that.
It is graceful to admit that INC has too many leaders and no effective organizational structure in states. These only have given advantage to regional parties. Every politician irrespective of party affiliation is corrupt. There are only a few exceptions.

Does he get the basic necessities fulfilled? food, shelter and
clothes? Come the summer every city almost in India suffers from the
clean drinking water, let alone the water for the daily usage.
Education? how many can afford a good education in India. Food
inflation!... what have you done to contain the food inflation
....man!. You have a PM who himself a Dr. in Finance and your Finance
minister too!!!... what have you changed in your ruling at the centre?.... with all the prices sky rocketing towards moon!... why

My learned fellow reader: in my opinion we are still not
independent... until we kick out these dirty/corrupt leaches out of
the office of the Parliament, Govt bodies and the likes. Cummon
friends, let's spread the word. We need a revolution, a revolution
which can bring transperancy in government, a revolution which brings
down each bureaucrat to do his job honestly, a revol
These elections were a dampener for the congress because it failed to tame the inflation, check the price rise and most important its position towards corruption & black money. If this trend continues the party will lose even the important states such as AP, Maharastra, Rajasthan, Harayana and by 2014 polls it will completely decimated as happened in UP&TN .The congress must seriously introspect these results and it should focus on towards development based politics rather than caste and dynasty based politics which is good both for party and to country. It should also have the will of ousting the corrupt leaders , declaring black money issue a National Asset and give a strong lokpal as per sense of resolution of house. If these things are not addressed now then in 2014 this may be the main issues you will be facing from your opponents, Team anna, Baba Ramdev.
It is infact the basic fundamentals of the Congress which do not
attract the young and the literate people. Change your attitude,
change your devide and rule hypothesis which you inherited from the
British. Propose a vision for an independent secular India. Look back
what have you done to India since the independence. India was more
'united' (with no divisions) when the British were ruling for that
matter. It is the Nehru family which divided the nation for their
benefit. Never gave importance to the likes of Azad, Swami Vivekananda
and the likes. If at all anybody visioned an independant India it was
these gentlemen who had. Not the Nehru family, who benefited most
from the 'independence'. Congress and in particular if you are a true
Indian Mr. Rahul, please stop dividing India on the caste basis, try
to dream of an independent secular India focussing on how to improve a
common man's life. Has anything changed to a common man since the
independence to a common man?
Wrong candidates? How about corruption, inefficiency, and apathy? How about being out of touch with reality? How about just being a joke and not even knowing it? How about being clueless?
Sonia Gandhi speaks like a faction leader. Wrong-candidate plea is normally advanced by a side-lined faction leader in the face of a defeat for his/her party. She does not see the long lost connection between the Congress and the masses of Uttar Pradesh. She does not see the rout of her party in her own family 'borough'. In the election alienated masses looked upon the party materialising before them at the election time. The party of their experience has not changed-- corrupt, inefficient. The old party had at least a programme for the masses, though undelivered. Presently the party promises to bring in Wal Mart to market rotting potato in the fields. How can the Congress expect people to convince themselves of the logic of FDI after sixty six years of independence. But the Congress was not worried about it. It simply wanted to throw dust into the eyes of the masses. The masses chose to throw some dust back into the Congress' eyes.
Now Sonia accepts price rice for their defeat in four states. But during
the debate in Parliament on price rise by the opposition bench, the same
Sonia was silent with the Prime Minister Manmohansingh.
I personally think that it is the gradual decline of the national
parties. People are fed up with all national parties and show keen
interest in the regional parties. The recent results from few states
provide a clarion call to all national parties.
Why are you guys so obsessed in printing the reason of loss as explained by the losing party itself. Print your own analysis. What is this great fuzz in the electronic and print media on why the congress lost.. you guys are projecting them as if they should have won.
Print something about the party that won, why people are choosing for alternatives...show your own analysis why congress lost... show the correct picture to the country of why they lost...they deserved to lose ...isn't it obvious from the poll results..put some research on that front..
''It is very clear that Sonia has started talking as a responsible leader.Normally the media spokesman or woman would try to explain about the congress functioning. We see the semblance of India captain talking at the end of every defeat, blaming top order batsmen,bowlers,fielders,umpiring,5 ball overs and preventing the running between wickets and so on.Sonia must be of late reading or watching these comments. She might also opt for rotation policy of course without asking Rahul(sachin of congress) to retire for his failures. We also very much like to know(RTI) what are the lessons, she and her son had got .
Even after going for election campaign for 22 weeks Rahul doesn't know that the party is weak in UP. I think Congress is going for miracles at others cost. If it works our party base is strong and if doesn't it is weak.
It seems from the speech of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi that she has not learned the lessons. People are fed-up with them/Congress. Except one man, Pranab, rest need to go. Mrs. Gandhi and her family should leave their position, whatever they hold presently. Everyone has to serve the country first and then enter in to politics. Then only Congress can prosper. Presently Sycophancy is ruling in the Congress. This is not a healthy trend - neither to the country nor to the party. I am blowing the conch. But, who is listening?
Not surprisingly Sonia is dancing around the crucial main problem of
its dismal performance of her party and wants us to believe that UPA
2 is not damaged by its disastrous performance. We are asked to
believe that but for wrong choice of candidates weak organization
and price raise Congress would have emerged victorious. She does not
seem to think that ten and thousands of crore swindling in 2G scam,
Commonwealth Game scandal and endemic corruption in the highest
places are the reason. Madam is under serious delusion that this
country is populated with people incapable of seeing
through the deceit.
The Congress can fool some people all the time; but they cannot fool the whole nation all the time .People want better lives , not election promises based on religion , caste & community.
If Congress thinks just the Gandhi familys name or putting a clean but ineffective PM as head of Govt is enough to win votes and elections , they have got it totally wrong .
Congress must get rid of all sycophants in its team .
These election results are a lesson .
India is changing .
"The Congress is the only party fighting corruption", really. Barring Kalmadi, not a single Congressman is in jail or being probed by the CBI. As per madam, all the Congress ruled states are free of corruption. Yeah right. Just go and look at results of Goa. In AP our CM gave a clean chit to a minister accused of receiving bribes from liquor mafia without any investigations. During YSR regime, the entire state was looted with the price being paid for by current rulers due to lack of revenues. Your days are pretty much numbered in AP as well. Your entire family canvassing in UP could not do anything to appease the voters who by the way are only getting smarter and will not vote for lies.
This is time throw congress out from the rule, they have sold our country and their leaders become rich. There still getting vote because BJP is not having proper leader in Natioal level also they are not able to show to rural level the impact of congress rule last 60 years. How can she tell they supported for strong lokpal Bill - We have seen the mess they created during that time.
"Wrong choice of candidates", you present it as if some opposition party or a mole in
your own party had picked up candidates for your party.
"Weak organisation", show the organiser the door for ever.
Then you say "these could have been the reasons". Wisdom is to think before and not to dodge the facts after defeat.
If the congress party had taken precautions in selecting candidates prior to elections the results would have been slightly in favour of the party. As opined by her, the party needs to introspect and discuss with all the party cadres. Many people in India have hopes on the congress party to lead the nation effectievly in the future. Some are even dreaming to see Mr.Rahul as the young and dynamic prime minister.
It is not like olden days that people were simply voting for Nehru Family thinking they were saints, pure, honest, loyal, patriotic and so on. Now media is playing a vital role. Corruption in spectram, Commonwealth games, Mumbai Adharsh Flats etc has brought to light the role played by congress. People are no more ready to believe congress is innocent and only their alliance parties are involved in corruption. They have also understood that the story is other way; major role was played by congress and others were used as scape goats.
