Three-tier security in Ayodhya

December 06, 2013 12:36 am | Updated 12:36 am IST - AYODHYA:

A three-tier security cordon was thrown around this town and all the entry points were sealed on Thursday, the eve of the 21st anniversary of the Babri Mosque demolition.

Muslim organisations will observe it as ‘black day’ and Hindu outfits a ‘day of victory.’

Around 10,000 personnel of the Uttar Pradesh police, the Rapid Action Force and the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed, official sources said.

PAC jawans will also carry out round-the-clock patrol on the river Saryu. In Lucknow, Ayodhya ADG (Law and Order) Mukul Goel said all district police chiefs have been directed not to permit any religious event, festival, rallies or meetings tomorrow.

He said vigil would be kept on elements who could disturb communal harmony.
