Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday declared a three-day State mourning on the demise of the former Prime Minister I.K. Gujral.
Government offices in the State observed a day’s leave on Friday as an expression of condolence. In addition, the national flag on government office buildings flew at half-mast, in compliance with the Chief Minister’s directions, an official release said.
In the 1991 mid-term parliamentary elections, Mr. Gujral contested from the Patna constituency.
Mr. Kumar said Mr. Gujral’s death was an irreparable loss to the political world.
