In a sensational case of robbery, three armed men shot dead three persons and decamped with the cash that was being transferred to an ATM in the busy Daliganj area here on Friday afternoon.

Three motorcycle-borne youths arrived at the ATM of a private bank and fired at the staff transferring the cash. While two persons, including an armed guard, died at the spot, another succumbed to bullet injuries in a city hospital. The youths then fled with about Rs.50 lakh in cash.

Announcing an ex-gratia of Rs.5 lakh each for families of those killed, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav directed the State police chief to personally monitor the probe. He gave a 15-day deadline to crack the case.
