July 20, 2011 10:32 pm | Updated 10:32 pm IST - PATNA:

Three persons were killed when unidentified gunmen attacked the house of rebel Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Umashankar Singh at Chhapra in Bihar's Saran district on Wednesday.

According to police reports, more than a dozen jeep-borne people attacked Mr. Singh's newly-purchased house. An ex-village headman was among those killed on the spot.

The police suspect the involvement of extremists behind what they feel was a planned move to settle a personal vendetta.

Mr. Singh was not in the house at the time of the attack.
