Three Australians of Indian origin honoured

Three Australians of Indian origin have received one of the most prestigious honours for their contribution to Australian society.

The names of Sadanandan Nambiar, Radhey Shyam Gupta and Pratish C. Bandopadhayay have found a place in this year’s Australia Day (26 January) honours list. Dr. Nambiar has been awarded the Officer of Order of Australia, the country’s second highest award, for distinguished service to science.

Mr. Gupta got the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the arts through classical Indian music. Dr. Bandopadhayay also received an OAM for community service to the Australian Bengali and Nepali communities.
