A day after Team Anna member and senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan was assaulted by three activists of the Shri Ram Sena and the hitherto unknown Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, workers of these outfits attacked three supporters of Anna Hazare outside the Patiala House Courts complex here on Thursday.

The assailants fled before the police arrived.

Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, Vishnu Gupta and Inder Verma, who allegedly assaulted Mr. Bhushan in his Supreme Court chamber on Wednesday, were being taken around 5 p.m. to the Tihar Central Jail after being remanded in judicial custody for one day, when five supporters of Mr. Hazare standing outside the main entrance to the court started shouting slogans in support of Mr. Bhushan.

This led to an altercation between them and the supporters of the accused. The situation soon went out of control, and the miscreants attacked Anna's supporters.

Three of the supporters, Rajkumar, 56, Mohammad Ahmed Saifi, 51, and Sheru Khan, 36, suffered injuries and were taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Police said Rajkumar was seriously injured. “We had gathered to protest against the assault on Mr. Bhushan. We were not there to fight,” said an Anna supporter.

“We have registered a case of rioting, unlawful assembly and voluntarily causing hurt. A hunt has been launched for the assailants. If necessary, we will contact the television news channels that captured the entire incident that lasted nearly seven minutes,” said an officer.
