Kasturi & Sons Ltd., publishers of The Hindu , BusinessLine , The Hindu-Tamil , Frontline and Sportstar , have withdrawn their association with the Indian Readership Survey and asked it to “cease and desist” from using any of the mastheads of the group’s publications.

In a letter to the Media Research Users Council and Readership Studies Council of India, the two bodies that drive the IRS, and the market research firm Nielsen India, which conducts the survey, KSL chief executive officer S. Earlier this week, the Indian Newspaper Society asked the MRUC to withdraw IRS 2013.
