After the huge response to The Hindu In School print edition for students launched in April 2012, the e-paper version was launched on January 18 at The Hindu India Education Fair, Dubai.

The two-day event (January 18 and 19) attracted a sizeable crowd and proved a perfect launch pad for the e-version of the paper. From the number of educationists, students and others who thronged the enclosure set up for the e-edition of The Hindu In School , it was clear the attempt was a brilliant success.

The limited offer of a free demo and 4GB pen drive that allowed free login access to the e-paper for a month, for students from Classes VI to XII in Dubai, was an added lure. “We are making it interactive,” explained D. Rajkumar, the paper’s Regional General Manager for Business Development based in Chennai, as he fielded queries from visitors.

The Hindu In School e-paper is one more innovative endeavour by the publication in its effort to go global as the print version builds on its success in India. The print edition of The Hindu In School is now taken by over 1,500 schools all over India, reaching more than 1.5 lakh students.

The e-paper, like the print version, will not be just a newspaper that updates the students on happenings around the world. The online edition envisages creative games and puzzles to stimulate children’s minds, inspiring them to ask questions and get answers and opportunities for setting up discussion forums.

The idea is to provide a high-quality educational resource and an ideal teaching aid at the middle and high school levels; the electronic edition should help facilitate the learning process in the classroom.

The aim is high. The goal is clear. So click on your mouse and check out The Hindu In School e-paper that’s waiting to unfold at the click of a button!
