The Hindu enjoys credibility and goodwill of the people. We will continue along the path of growth,” said N. Ram, Chairman, Kasturi and Sons Limited (KSL).

He was speaking at the 58 anniversary celebration of The Hindu Office and National Press Employees’ Union here on Tuesday. “We have to increase revenues in an ethical manner and reduce expenses without harming people,” said Mr. Ram

Rajiv C. Lochan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of KSL, said that there were hardly 10 companies in the country that were 136 years-old and among them Indian firms were fewer. “The company draws immense respect from the readers, bureaucrats and policy makers. People firmly believe that The Hindu reports only the truth,” he said.

“Such reputation is like a treasure and has to be protected. The company’s well-being is due to the prayers and wishes of its employees and their families. We will have to work together to keep the company’s name high for the next 136 years and more,” he said. “We are the only company that implemented the Majithia Wage Board fully in letter and spirit,” he added.

E. Gopal, president of the Union, outlined the relationship with The Hindu ’s management. “There has always been good relations between us,” he said.

M. Kamalanathan, general secretary of the union, said that he was hopeful that the management would continue the welfare measures and protect the interest of the employees.
