The aftermath of Telangana

The Congress-led UPA's endorsement of the demand for a separate Telangana state has been a shot in the arm for such demands from other regions of the country. A pictorial report on the voices which are getting louder with each day.

Demand for a separate state is an attempt to raise heads suppressed by
genuine factors intangible to many. These factors are caste,
creed, religion, General, ST, OBC, SC etc. The neglecting attitude of
Govt. towards a region or section of community regarded, maybe, as
ignorant, uneducated, foolish, prone to deceive, since independence
necessarily done its job today. Politics rules and so gaining
political grounds after being cheated for years for a cause which has
grown out of light and truth can also be seen by many as biased for
they never know how their govt. has been ruining lives of a section of
people out there. The shouts and slogans come only if suppressed. Good
governance, unity in diversity, fraternity, federal
structure, developments constitutes the shouts and slogans and not
division. one can call the demands by many names as deem fit suiting
one's explanation but the real truth is it is happening today and WHY?

Government should understand Gorkhaland is not like Tamil tiger who
demanded separate country . A Separate Federal State with identity is
the right of people living on Federal Republic . Unnecessarily Ruling
party making it's a Big issue siding West Bengal . The People living
on the hills are Indian and they will remain indian after granting the
Gorkhaland . It's the fact . But for sure the poor people living on
the hills will get advantage and will progress as faster to the way of
development and In Future Gorkhaland will be the One of the major
attraction and tourism spot in India attracting even other Himalayan
Lover 's . In Short it Can be the Switzerland of India .

The way states are sought to be devided, presumably to allot POLITICAL ZEMINDERY to political 'brotherhood',it may not be too distant and a surprise if a demand for partition of parliament/country is made by any entreprising leader.Gorkhas are very competent and loyal Indians but their current movement is not free from racialism, apparently, exploited ,again ,by a group of enterprising leaders. Can we think of a constitutional provision against such blatantly racial/divisive and mean
movements?

Agree with most of the comments. Dividing will eventually lead to more
set up cost and people will be least benefited.Going into the demand of
Gorkhaland, people around the hills would be the sufferer. With least
food grains available in the hills all they have to purchase from other
states leading to hike in prices and eventually people will be sufferer.
The one belong to higher middle class will be least burdened but mostly
people there are middle class or poor and they will suffer most.

Unfortunate ... cannot see how creating more states solves anything.
It only reinforces the idea of division and the separateness of our
identities based on language rather than the idea of unity. At this
rate we will end up with each district eventually becoming a separate
state. The creation of a state duplicates the entire administrative
structure at great cost - imagine an entirely additional government
with its minsters, bureaucrats, their establishments and so on .... I
suspect the reason why politicians fan these flames of division is so
that they get to benefit from these sinecures and the attendant
benefits of corruption, whilst the people who agitate on the streets -
often at cost of their lives - get nothing better. What is needed is
good governance in the states we already have, not more states.

Divide and Rule...that's how congress rolls. If the elected MPs/MLAs
cannot do much for any of these neglected regions, how can statehood
work? The same people who are now the elected representatives of the
bigger govt. would be left back to run the newly formed state. Then
what? Creation of state will give the region a one-time only monetary
support, what about the time after that? Congress is least bothered,
they'll broke a deal with all the separatist parties to help gain
support in 2014. Long live corruption in India.

Mughals & British used "divide & rule" policy to separate India. Earlier leaders played
politics for separation of undivided India to two countries based on "religion". Later
Pakistan was divided into two due to fundamental differences. India was divided into
separate states based on "Languages". India further got subdivided into small
nations using so many factors of caste, class, religion etc. In 70s, in Tamilnadu
came the self-respect movement and subsequently demand for separate state.
Failed congress was looking for a major political survival game. Once again they
have portrayed that dividing the country further will give them a political place. In
addition, they may gain a path to escape from the onslaught of the election due to
total failure on all fronts - especially on economics & finance - with 'great?" minds
sitting on the center. Corruption will find an easy way out. People will be distracted
due to separatist elements. Any patriot's heart will bleed!
