The Zilla Parishad general body meeting, which was held on Sunday, was rocked over the alleged irregularities in the distribution of input subsidy to farmers and adamant attitude of the agricultural department officials.

The ZP general meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Tula Uma. Joint Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed and ZP CEO Amabaih were also present.

Raising the issue, the ZPTC members complained that the agriculture department officials have failed to distribute input subsidy properly to the beneficiaries. They also alleged that several ineligible farmers and bogus names were also provided with the input subsidy.

Though, the government had released Rs. 105 crore as input subsidy to the district, it was not paid properly to farmers due to alleged negligence on the part of the agricultural officials, they charged.

The ZPTC members also demanded that the administration should surrender JD (Agriculture) Prasad and two other agriculture

officers of Husnabad and Bejjanki mandals to the government.

The meeting also discussed at length the corruption in the Revenue Department from the village revenue

officer rank to the tahsildar rank in all the mandals. Quoting the incidents of revenue officials being caught red-handed by the ACB authorities while demanding and accepting the bribe, the ZPTC members urged the district administration to take appropriate measures to check corruption and ensure better services to the common man.

The meeting also discussed the education and health sectors of the district.

Legislators D. Manohar Reddy, Rasamayi Balakishan, B. Shoba, MLCs P. Sudhakar Reddy and T. Bhanu Prasad

Rao and others were also present.
