World Space Week sees huge turnout

The World Space Week-2017 celebrations, organised by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as part of its outreach programme, got off to a grand start with a huge turnout of students at NTPC Ramagundam on Sunday.

ISRO Satish Dawan Space Centre, SHAR Sriharikota, in association with NTPC Ramagundam has organised the two-day celebrations at Ramagundam in Peddapalli district. NTPC Ramagundam Executive Director D.K. Dubey inaugurated the exhibition along with SHAR Deputy Director (Range Operations) K.M. Reddy, NTPC General Manager (Technical) P.K. Laad and others.

Speaking on the occasion, the NTPC ED said children should develop scientific temper from their early age. Events like World Space Week provide an excellent opportunity to adopt the best practices from ISRO, he said and appreciated the ISRO for its public outreach programme and for selecting the NTPC Ramagundam as the venue. He further added that the event would benefit the students who were being exposed to excellent technology and learnings. The World Space Week-2017, with the theme ‘Exploring New World in Space’, attracted a large numbers of students, teachers and other visitors. On the inaugural day, thousands of students from nearby areas participated in competitions like drawing, written quiz and science fair. The exhibition and a video show, which highlighted the achievements of the ISRO, enthralled everyone.

The World Space Week celebrations aim at highlighting the benefits of the Indian Space programme as well as spreading awareness on space technology that would ignite the young minds.
