Works on new bridge on Godavari to begin from April 1

March 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - BHADRACHALAM (Khammam Dist.):

The 1.20 km long and 12 meters wide proposed second bridge across the Godavari river in Bhadrachalam is expected to end the traffic snarls on the vital road link between Telangana and Chhattisgarh States.

The proposed high-level bridge will come up adjacent to the existing old bridge of 7.5 meters width across the Godavari as an integral part of the National Highway 221 (New NH-30) at an estimated cost of Rs. 79.06 crore, sources said.

The civil works on the proposed new bridge will formally begin on April 1.

Two years deadline for

completion of work

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is scheduled to lay a foundation stone for the new high-level bridge in Bhadrachalam.

Although the executing agencies concerned have set up a two year deadline for the completion of the new bridge, the task appears to be tough going by the previous instances of delay in completion of various road infrastructure development works taken up elsewhere in the Bhadrachalam division.

The high-level bridge will come up adjacent to the existing old bridge across the Godavari as an integral part of the National Highway 221 (New NH-30) at an estimated cost of

Rs. 79.06 crore
