Avunu 2 , the sequel to the 2012 hit is all set to hit the screens on April 3. This joint venture between Suresh Productions and Flying Frogs Productions is important to different people connected with it, for different reasons.

For one, it is probably the last film presented by the late D. Rama Naidu, after the Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh-starrer Gopala, Gopala that was made earlier by the movie mogul’s son D. Suresh Babu of Suresh Productions and Sharrath Marar of Northstar Entertainments. “My father visited the sets of both these films while they were under production and that is why both these movies are special for us,” said Suresh.

Director Ravi Babu said Avunu 2 comprises the same team that made the horror flick nearly three years ago. It drew rave reviews and attracted an appreciable number of movie buffs to the theatres.

More importantly, it was a runaway hit when beamed on the small screen too, attracting great ratings.

The lead pair – Harshavardhan Rane and Poorna – and the rest of the cast and technical crew expressed confidence that the sequel would get the same patronage that Avunu got.

“Gone are the days when we had to turn to Hollywood to get the true experience of an amazingly-real horror movie,” said the filmmakers.

Will the debutants spin magic?

Another son of a Tollywood biggie is making his debut. But this time it is in the field of music. Popular music director Mani Sharma’s son Sagar Mahati has composed music for Jadoogadu , which stars Naga Shaurya.

The movie, which will hit the screens next month, has six songs by the younger musician.

Not too long ago, it was heard in Film Nagar circles that Sagar will be making his acting debut.

After a while, there was speculation that he would be turning composer for a movie that was recently released.

Finally, after having been associated with his father professionally for some years, he will be singing his own tune. Another artiste from the movie has been grabbing headlines for her widespread claim on television.

Sonarika who played goddess Parvati in Har..Har..Mahadev is being introduced in a completely different character. It has to be seen if the transition from a Hindu mythological character to a modern youngster will be accepted in the same breath by the public.
