YSR Congress leader Y.S. Sharmila has said that she is ready to take up any programme given by the party, including its strengthening, in Telangana.
Speaking at several places in Mahabubnagar district as part of her ‘parmarsha yatra’ on Monday, she stated that the love and affection for late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, popularly known as YSR, was intact in the heart of every poor. He will continue to live in the hearts of Telugu people forever.
Ms. Sharmila launched the ‘parmarsha yatra’ meant to console the family members of those who died after hearing the news of the tragic death of YSR in September 2009 as a continuation of ‘odarpu yatra’ left unfinished by party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy. She launched her tour from Ibrahimpatnam on the outskirts of the city after garlanding a statue of YSR.
Earlier, she was blessed by her mother and honorary president of YSR Congress Y.S. Vijayamma and her brother Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy at their residence near Lotus Pond. She unveiled the statues of YSR at Mall, Kurmedu and Brahmanapalle before visiting the family of J. Rayapu Reddy, who died of cardiac arrest after hearing the news of YSR’s death, at Reddypuram, and consoled his widow Sleevamma.
She was accompanied by party’s working president for Telangana, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, who is also Khammam MP, Ongole MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, Pinapaka MLA Payam Venkateswarlu and party leaders Gattu Ramachadra Rao, B. Janak Prasad, Konda Raghava Reddy, Edma Kishta Reddy, Nalla Suryaprakash and others.
“I have not taken up the yatra to remind people about YSR but to console those who could not withstand his untimely death,” she said.
