The finals of the cricket match as part of the charity event, ‘Memu Saitham’ that brought together the who’s who of Telugu tinseltown in aid of the Hudhud-affected, saw the Nagarjuna Team winning over the Venkatesh Team at Kotla Vijayabhaskar Indoor Stadium here on Sunday evening.

The event organisers handed over a cheque for Rs. 11.51 crore to the AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, at the Annapurna Studios later in the evening.

For once, it was not the defeat or the victory that seemed important. What mattered was the presence of popular actors shedding their starry airs and directing all their energies to playing cricket in aid of the cyclone victims. In the finals that were played for just two overs each, Akkineni Nagarjuna won the toss and elected to bat.

His team notched up 26 runs with his son and actor Akhil lobbing the ball for two sixers and sending it racing to the boundary once.

Chasing a target of 27, the Venkatesh Team fell short by four runs and hence pushed to the position of runners up. After the match, the scene shifted to the Annapurna Studios (Seven Acres) for a cultural extravaganza.
