BJP State president K. Laxman said that people are looking up to the capable leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and now it was the turn of party cadre to grab the opportunity and fulfil the aspirations of the public.

“We are confident of coming to power in 2019 also. Senior politician and former Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah recently said that all opposition parties better not think of coming to power till 2024. This statement indicates the prevailing situation in the country. People across the nation are looking up to Modi’s leadership. We are sure that even in Kerala, the BJP will emerge as single largest party if elections were held,” said Mr Lakshman while delivering his address on the concluding day of the BJP two-day State Executive here on Thursday.

“The wave in favour of BJP is clearly noticeable in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. We have gone from strength to strength in Telangana.

The religion-based reservations proposed for Muslims were not acceptable at all. How can the government act like this when a decision on 4 per cent reservation for Muslims provided by the previous government is still pending before the court?” asked Mr. Laxman.

The BJP leader alleged that farmers were taken for a ride by the TRS Government, resulting in problems like lack of remunerative price for their produce and poor irrigation facilities. “Maharashtra and Karnataka governments have been offering Rs. 450 per quintal on redgram as supportive price while Andhra Pradesh has been offering Rs. 1,500 per quintal for red chillies. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao should announce Rs. 1500 for red chilly and Rs. 500 for red gram if he is sincere towards farmers,” said Mr. Laxman.

He has also alleged that the State government has failed to release any funds to panchayats and instead diverting the funds being released by the Centre. The meeting was attended by Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, G. Kishan Reddy and others.
