The City police acquired modern fingerprint detection equipment on Thursday and it will replace the old system in vogue since 1999.
The new equipment helps take fingerprints without using ink and it can be compared with seven lakh prints at a time using the modern method. This system with live scanners and mobile security check device helps take fingerprints within six minutes and store them in computer server. They can be retrieved with a single click.
City Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said, “The new equipment helps in crime detection easily and data can be shared among the police personnel across the country within minutes. The latest technology comes in handy for the police”.
A live demonstration was made for the police personnel using the latest equipment. Deputy Commissioner of Police Venugopal Rao, Assistant Commissioners of Police Ismail, Venkanna and other officers were present.
