Voters told to link Aadhaar numbers with ID cards

Collector Rahul Bojja said that under the National Electoral Rolls Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP), voters will be allowed to open certain sections of the webpage of Election Commission of India (ECI) and link their Aadhaar number with their voter card. An SMS based services would also be made available and the details would be furnished shortly.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday Mr. Rahul said that a mobile application is also being developed for the purpose and it would be ready shortly. Informing that about 98 per cent of the population in the district is having Aadhaar numbers, he said that they want to complete the process by July 31.

Referring to tax collection in the district, the Collector said that hundred per cent tax collection has been done in 769 villages so far and efforts were on to ensure hundred per cent tax collection in all the 1,077 villages. He said that Siddipet Assembly constituency is placed top in the 100 per cent tax collection list followed by Gajwel.

Stating that works for Mission Kakatiya have commenced in the district, Mr. Rahul said that works for six tanks were already grounded out of the total 1,869 tanks in the first phase. District Panchayat Officer C Suresh Babu, Irrigation Superintendent Engineer S. Surender and District Education Officer A. Rajeswara Rao were present.
