VHR rebuts charges levelled by Harish

September 09, 2014 10:27 pm | Updated May 23, 2016 04:42 pm IST - SANGAREDDY:

Rajya Sabha member and senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao said that the Telanagana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had promised the moon to the people of the region during the elections, nothing has happened until now in the 100-day rule of the TRS.

Speaking to reporters along with Alampur legislator S.A. Sampat Kumar and PCC leader J. Kusum Kumar here on Tuesday, Mr. Hanumantha Rao rebutted the allegation levelled by Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao that the Congress and BJP had joined hands to defeat the TRS.

“We are a party with secular credentials and will never join hands with a party like the BJP, which has communal leanings. The allegations levelled by Mr. Harish Rao are completely baseless and aimed at diverting the public attention from the failures of the government,” he said.

Referring to BJP candidate T. Jayaprakash Reddy, Mr. Hanumantha Rao wondered how that party had allotted the ticket to a person who opposed the formation of Telangana. He also asked why the RSS and Vishwa Hindu Parishad were silent on allocation of ticket to him. “Mr. Jayaprakash Reddy used to move with whoever was the Chief Minister and could change parties like clothes. The BJP chose him as the candidate as it was unable to find a suitable one within the party,” he said.
